SSL Client Authentication with X.509 Certificates
Strong Hardware based Authentication
eBusiness solutions, financial transactions, and subscription services require reliable user authentication and secure transmission channels. This can be achieved with the combination of certificate based client authentication and SSL transmission. To reach the highest security level it is necessary to have a trusted storage container for the certificates: The CrypToken.
How SSL Client Authentication works
The client is verified during the connection handshake using an X.509 certificate. Access to the server is granted with a valid certificate only, stored on the CrypToken. Based on the cryptographic standard APIs (PKCS#11 and Microsoft CSP) and the usage of X.509 certiificates, this solution integrates well into all common PKI environments. The CrypToken Toolkit contains Application Notes how to implement X.509 based authentication into existing client environments, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.
