CrypToken M(X) 2048

I already installed the CrypToken device drivers on my computer, but my software cannot find the CrypToken M(X)2048.

Please make sure that you have installed the CrypToken device drivers for your operating system (available in the download center). If the drivers are installed correctly, the CrypToken will be recognized as "CardMan 6121" in the Windows Device Manager (unter the section "Smart card readers".

I want to use the CrypToken on a system running Windows, but when plugging in the CrypToken into the USB port Windows is unable to find the correct drivers.

Before attaching the CrypToken to the computer please install the CrypToken device drivers (available in the download center), then attach the CrypToken. Please note that you need administrator rights to install the device drivers under Windows Vista/XP/2000/NT4. If you have Internet access you may also install the device drivers using Windows Update.

I want to use the CrypToken under Linux or Mac OS. Are there libraries and drivers available for those systems?

You can use the CrypToken under Linux and Mac OS. The drivers are available in the download center. Normally there is no driver installation required at all, because the Linux and MacOS should detect the CrypToken as CCID device. Please note that you also need to install the corresponding SafeSign middleware library files (in case you have bought the CrypToken together with the SafeSign middleware) to communicate with the token via PKCS#11. These libraries are included on the CrypToken Kit CDROM, or can be requested from our support.

In the documentation there are frequent references about a "RAM area" on the CrypToken. Is the data inside the CrypToken memory lost after switching off the PC?

To simplify matters, we refer to the memory as "RAM", but the internal memory of the CrypToken is non-volatile and will be preserved after switching off the computer or unplugging the CrypToken. There are up to 1 Million write cycles to the memory possible.

Which certifications does the CrypToken hardware have? Certifications benefit us, especially for our large customers!

The CrypToken hardware is certified by USB Implementers Forum (www.usb.org), and complies with the FCC rules for digital devices. The smart card chip inside the CrypToken is EAL certified, please have a look at the Comparison Table for more information.

What is the difference between CRYPTO-BOX USB and CrypToken?

The CRYPTO-BOX was developed mainly for software and data protection purposes, while the CrypToken is an ideal add-on for system integrators and VARs to use as a smart add-on for confidential eBusiness transactions such as banking and financial services. Furthermore it can be easily integrated into VPN solutions for data and network security.
